In 2022-26, in addition to the weekly activities in our halls, we are delighted to have had the following Community Centre events taking place:
January 2026 – produced and publicised our business plan for 2026-2030
December 2025 – Christmas Fayre on Saturday 13 December from 12noon to 4pm.
July 2025 – received a grant from Durham City Freemen Charitable Trust of £5,000 to purchase IT equipment required by many hirers of our halls
May 2025 – Visit from Newcastle University NICRE (National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise) team to report to the National Lottery on our success with the new heating system
March 2025 received a grant from Point North of £6,672 to allow the Centre to continue our Wellbeing Tuesdays for another year
March 2025 – received a grant for £40,000 from Durham County Council Energy Resilience Team towards the replacement heating system
December 2024 – Christmas Fayre on Saturday 14 December from 12noon to 4pm.
November 2024 – Coop Community fund donated a grant of almost £3,000. Thanks to all Coop members who supported us.
October 2024 – received a grant of 5,000 from Durham Area Action Partnership towards the needed replacement heating system
August-October 2024 – major work being implemented in the Centre to replace the old outdated gas-fired boiler with a new hybrid, efficient, environmentally friendly heating system which incorporates new technology, computer controlled to minimise costs and maximise efficiency
July 2024 received a grant from National Lottery Community Spaces Fund of £40,000 towards the needed replacement heating system
June 2024 – major grant of £20,000 received from National Lottery to support the Wellbeing programme for another year. Thanks to all National Lottery players
January-July – applying for grant funding to generate the capacity to update our existing heating system – we successfully raised over £85,000 towards this project.
December 2023 – Christmas Fayre on Saturday 9 December from 12noon to 4pm …information to follow
October 2023 – organised a Halloween event for local children and families
May 2023 – Coronation Celebration event on Monday 8 May from 12noon to 4pm. The event celebrated King Charles III coronation with a day of activities, crafting, events, music and outdoor activities. Thanks to a grant from County Councillors Amanda Hopgood, Mark Wilkes and Mamie Simmons who supported this successful event
January 2023: Warm Space sessions every Monday from 2-4pm until the end of March – for any one who wants a warm place to be and warm refreshments plus ….
December 2022 – Christmas Fayre on 10 December from 12noon to 4pm: Stories with Stevie and the Elves, Letters to Santa with the Elves, Christmas crafting, Carol singing around the tree, Festive food and drink, Festive stallholders and much more.
November 2022: Memory Café run by New College (Denise Winters and students) starting in November 2022 on the last Tuesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30am
October 2022 – Halloween Party on October 29 from 3-5pm: pumpkin carving, spooky Halloween food and drink, part games and Halloween disco
June 2022: Jubilee celebrations on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June – 11am – 4pm each day is our Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebration Weekend ! 2 days of FREE activities, events, music and stalls, culminating in the live televised Queens Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace! February 2022 – Our FREE Tuesday Wellbeing classes designed to hep you meet new people, learn new activities, and help eliminate loneliness.
